Our Lewisville Therapists

Lauren McMillan
MS, LPC Colleyville Site Supervisor
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling from University of North Texas in 2017. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with adolescents and adults on a wide variety of issues including complex trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideation, as well as gender and sexual identity. I have experience working in various levels of care, such as PHP/IOP, that have helped shape my therapeutic approach in private practice. I don’t shy away from “scary” emotions and welcome them in session.
I am eclectic in my approach, tapping into aspects of CBT to help dispute negative thinking patterns, DBT to help with emotional regulation/distress tolerance skills, as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma reprocessing and desensitization. I also incorporate IFS for parts work to help you regain a sense of control in your life.
I believe that a solid therapeutic foundation is built upon trust and connection and as such, I aspire to provide a warm, safe, and accepting environment for all. My therapeutic passion is to provide clients the necessary tools they need to build a healthy, happy life that feels worth living.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to the healing process and seek to help my clients build a fulfilling life for themselves. I primarily operate from a person-centered perspective and also utilize a variety of modalities to best fit each client’s needs, such as DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and attachment theory. I am trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, phobias, and severe anxiety, as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is highly effective in treating trauma and PTSD. As humans, we not only want to feel understood, but we want to understand ourselves and why we do what we do. This awareness can lead us closer to positive shifts and healing. I am here to offer a safe, non-judgmental environment for you to figure out what is working, what is not, and how to move forward.
